Libero Strijkorkest is a young and ambitious orchestra whose goal is to play beautiful classical music with a modern touch: by heart, freed from music scores or stands, and without a conductor. It wishes to be a part of society by bringing classical music to unusual venues, taking part in educational and social projects, and also by appearing in conventional venues. The orchestra intends to achieve this through its unique method of playing all the music from memory, and by performing standing rather than sitting. This modern form of playing together pairs well with the wish to be groundbreaking on various ways, in terms of presentation and choice of repertoire, combining the classics with new works.
